A generation ago, people with developmental disabilities did not have hopeful futures. Today, men and women who receive Community Mainstreaming services wake up with a purpose. They work in community jobs or receive training in a day program. They have opportunities to make choices, rejoice in triumph and learn from experiences. Community Mainstreaming program participants vote, shop, go on vacations, volunteer in the community and develop meaningful friendships. They are our best ambassadors to enlighten people about the possibilities for those who strive to conquer life’s challenges.
