Intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) can make certain aspects of life more challenging. Having the appropriate resources can make all the difference. However, not everyone will have access to the same quality of support. Our residential programs and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities aim to provide the support that sometimes family and friends are unable to provide.

Community Mainstreaming Associates’ Residential Programs and Services

Individualized Residential Alternatives

Individual Residential Alternatives (IRAs) are homes and apartment buildings that usually house ten or fewer people. These certified residences provide our clients with protection under the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) sponsorships.

In addition, Community Mainstreaming Associates (CMA) offers supervised and supportive IRAs where residents can get the support needed to develop appropriate behavior skills, increase independence, boost community integration, improve social inclusion, and more.

Supervised IRAs

Community Mainstreaming offers OPWDD-certified Supervised IRAs with 24-hour residential support. It allows residents to live semi-independently with the help of our qualified staff. We gladly assist residents in developing necessary life skills within the comfort of their own homes.

In addition, our team helps residents manage their medical, financial, and other personal needs, making it possible for them to live more autonomous lives.

Supportive IRAs

Community Mainstreaming also offers Supported IRAs. These are ideal for those seeking a more independent lifestyle while being part of a residential community. This type of IRA allows community members to live in a house with friends and other community members. In turn, it enables them to receive services without the level of supervision present in Supervised IRAs.

In most instances, we provide around 20 hours of services per week. We help participants complete tasks such as cooking/meal planning, scheduling medical appointments and following up, banking and budgeting, transportation/traveling, and social and recreational community engagement.

Benefits of our Residential Programs and Services

Peace of Mind

One of the top benefits of IRAs for those with IDDs is that it gives them and their loved ones peace of mind. On the one hand, the person with IDDs will have the comfort of knowing they are being guided and protected by experts with experience. On the other hand, it gives their loved ones the contentment of knowing that they are being cared for by well-trained professionals.

Boost Confidence

Another benefit of IRAs for those with IDDs is that they can help boost their confidence in all areas of life. Living with IDDs can hinder people from living out their full potential. However, this is typically due to the lack of proper resources.

Socializing

Living with IDDs can cause some to feel isolated from mainstream society, but our residential programs and services help to address that issue. Participants are able to enjoy recreational activities and socializing opportunities with their peers.

Why Choose CMA?

IRAs can be an excellent way to allow participants to live relatively autonomous lives by choosing the best programs for your loved one’s needs. Whether you’re searching for residential programs or services, CMA can accommodate your needs.
