There are few things in life quite as satisfying as extending a hand to help others. If you want to make a difference in people’s lives but worry that you may not have the time or means, check out Community Mainstreaming Associates (CMA) and see ways to get involved with us.

CMA is committed to aiding those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We have created a place to offer the support they need to live happy and fulfilling lives. With numerous systems in place to enrich the lives of those that need a little extra assistance, CMA makes it easy to give back and make a big difference by offering multiple ways you can help.

Donations Are One of The Ways to Contribute to CMA’s Mission

Beyond being incredibly generous, donations also play a crucial part in our ability to operate. They give us the means to provide a rewarding experience and environment for our participants and residents.

Make a Donation

All donations directly impact our organization and help us further our mission. Any amount makes a big difference in the lives of those we support. You can either make a one-time donation or commit to a recurring donation.

Become a Corporate Sponsor

When you partner with CMA, you aren’t only doing a great service to your community; you’re helping to boost the morale and health of your own business. Many donations are tax-deductible, and in addition to exposure, you may see a boost in overall morale throughout your employees as the joy that comes from helping others spreads. It’s a win-win!

Shop AmazonSmile

If you’re already an Amazon shopper and want to help out with our mission, the simple act of shopping AmazonSmile can go a long way. It’s the same products at the same prices, but when you shop AmazonSmile 0.5% of the proceeds are donated to helping CMA. This small contribution is one of the easiest ways you can help.

Shop the CMA eAcademy

Our charity boutique housed on eBay sells books, art, and sports memorabilia at great prices. All proceeds of your purchase will support the eAcademy program of Community Mainstreaming Associates.

All of Our Volunteering Options Are Fantastic Ways to Get Involved

Volunteering is crucial to our ability to help and care for those we assist through CMA. We can do more and offer more with the generosity of your time and efforts. Not only that, but everyone benefits from the positive energy felt by those giving of themselves.

Artistic Impressions

If creativity is your thing, you can use your artistic abilities by volunteering to teach an art class. As every artist already knows, the power of self-expression is invaluable. Art is in the eye of the beholder, and your passion and energy will help to inspire their creations. In addition, the ability to express yourself provides a true sense of empowerment.

Whether your specialty is a green thumb or an eye for detail, CMA always looks for those who can help with beautification projects in the Long Island area. If painting elaborate murals, planting gardens, or generally spreading cheer through cleaning up and beautifying your community sounds fun, your skills and efforts are always welcome.

Financial Literacy

If you’re experienced with money management and have the ability and demeanor to teach what you know, you’d be a great fit as a financial literacy volunteer. You can guide and show our participants the basics of understanding credit scores, creating a budget, and many other critical economic life skills.

Defined in part as a pastime, diversion, exercise, or other resource affording relaxation and enjoyment. It is that and so much more to our residents and participants. Enjoy playing games, physical fitness, art, photography, creative writing, and most importantly, sharing your time and engaging with others. You may be an excellent fit as a recreation sessions volunteer.

Professional Development

Professional development volunteers foster essential life skills that help individuals to get jobs. Here, you can assist participants in learning how to correspond through email, create resumes, and offer advice on the interview process. These are building blocks toward achieving a level of independence.
